The DC FanDome has gotten fans all hyped up for the upcoming TV series and films that are meant to be coming to cinemas and home theatres.
Films like The Batman, The Flash, and series like Peacemaker which we talk about in our article about The 7 Biggest Reveals of DC Fandome 2021.
As we wait for more news on the full list that DC has set before us, let’s dive into some updates that we do have so far.
The Sandman
“Don’t play games with Lucifer.”
This is what you’ll be seeing a lot of in advertisements leading to the premiere of The Sandman on Netflix.
Coming to us sometime in 2022 the surreal world that this series will be is definitely going to be worth checking out.
If you haven’t already read the series I highly recommend it. It can be an overlooked and underrated one but the story from Neil Gaiman and the overall art style is absolutely worth diving into.
DMZ
For those of you who can’t get enough of that dystopian drama goodness, then you’re going to love the HBO Max original DMZ.
It’s only set to be a mini-series but what we’ve seen of it so far looks pretty epic.
Starring Rosario Dawson from the Netflix Marvel shows and Ahsoka in the upcoming Star Wars show on Disney+, she is everywhere right now.
The release date is set for winter of 2022.
Wonder Woman 3
Director Patty Jenkins’ schedule has just been freed up a bit more with the recent delay on the Star Wars Rogue Squadron film.
It could mean that Wonder Woman 3 will take priority which means we might be seeing Wonder Woman a lot sooner than we thought we would. The film will of course be hitting cinemas when it is released but it may have a paid streaming option on HBO Max as well.
Blue Beetle
The announcement of The Blue Beetle has had fans eagerly awaiting news about the production, filming, and release.
It has taken the spotlight as one of the most anticipated DC heroes to hit home theatres as it will be streaming only on HBO Max. The Blue Beetle is the first Latino superhero movie coming to us from the DC extended universe and is being rumoured to begin filming in the early half of 2022.
The film will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto and will be starring Xolo Marideuña.
Batgirl
The one and only Barbara Gordon played by Leslie Grace will be making it to HBO Max sometime in 2022.
The details on production and filming are scarce, but if the release is set for sometime in 2022, then we can assume they are making some good progress.
Grace said at DC Fandome that she’s been training hard and the directors have confirmed that she will in true Batgirl fashion have the iconic red hair. Brenden Fraser is cast to be Firefly, and Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be directing the film.
Final Thoughts
DC has said they want to release 3 films a year which means we can expect even more announcements, details, and updates coming very soon if all goes according to plan!
There’s a lot to look forward to in the upcoming years and, fingers crossed, we will see a successful Wonder Woman 3. Maybe we’ll get some more clarity on a new Justice League film, and hopefully some clarity on what direction they’re going in with Superman as right now, things are pretty all over the place.
Since DC Fandome 2021, rumours have only ramped up about the upcoming projects that DC has planned.
