Star Wars fans are going to be getting an exciting early Christmas present when The Book of Boba-Fett launches on Disney+ this December 29th.
Fett recently made his return through ‘The Mandalorian’. First seen at the end of Season 1, episode 5, before he made his full bombastic return in Season 2, where he reclaims his original armour, held by Mando, and assists the Mandalorian in his business.
By the end of the second season, we saw Fett return to the iconic sand planet Tatooine, taking over Jabba’s Palace and presumably becoming some form of intergalactic crime boss. Quite the promotion from bounty hunter.
It was then announced that he would be getting his own spin-off series titled ‘The Book of Boba-Fett’.
What’s it about?
Details on the plot remain a mystery, and the title doesn’t give away too much either. What is known is that it will take place after The Mandalorian Season 2, being described as The Mandalorian Season 2.5.
In terms of speculation, it’s been theorised that we’ll finally see how he survived his fall into the Sarlacc Pit during the beginning of Return of the Jedi, something that was glossed over during his reappearance on The Mandalorian.
Who will be in it?
The two confirmed stars are Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen, who will be reprising their roles of Boba-Fett and Fennec Shand respectively.
Temuera actually made his Star Wars debut during the prequel trilogy of films. He played Boba-Fett’s father, Jango Fett, and a number of clone troopers, such as the fan favourite Commander Cody.
Something that will be interesting to see is what guest stars make an appearance. Star Wars is a huge franchise filled with so many beloved characters and if The Mandalorian is anything to go off, there’s a good chance that we’ll see some interesting guest appearances whether they be friend or foe to Fett.
Maybe we’ll see an appearance from Din Djarin so we can see how he’s holding up after the drama of the Season 2 finale?
Who’s working on the show?
Fans will be glad to know that Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau will be returning as Executive Producers, as well as Robert Rodriguez who’s set to produce a few episodes of the series.
A lot of the same production techniques from The Mandalorian be used for the Boba-Fett show.
What else does the future hold for Boba-Fett?
Disney has big plans for the coming years with populating Disney+ with Star Wars media. Aside from The Book of Boba-Fett and The Mandalorian Season 3, could Fett appear in other upcoming Disney+ shows?
It’s unlikely but it is Star Wars after all, the galaxy far far away seems to be a lot smaller than you’d think with the number of times characters bump into each other randomly.
A safe bet would be Fett once again joining Mando on his adventures, but depending on what happens during his own show, and the implications that Fett is grabbing power wherever he can find it, will he still be as inclined to help Din Djarin or will take more of an antagonistic role?
We’ll be sure to find out this December 29th when ‘The Book of Boba-Fett’ drops on Disney+.
